Day Two:

AMMAN CITY - JERASH

After a breakfast at the hotel, begin the day with a city tour of Amman, including stops at the Citadel, the Archaeological Museum, the Roman Theatre and the Folklore Museum.

The capital of Jordan, Amman, was known in history as Rabbath -Ammon and in Greco-Roman times as Philadelphia. High above the city, at the ancient Citadel, study the traces of Amman's many lives: the regal columns of a Roman temple set in silhouette against the sky, the elegant capitals of a Byzantine church, endlessly inventive carvings in the Umayyad Palace, fascinating displays in the Archaeological Museum, and digs and ruins everywhere you step. At the foot of the Citadel, take a seat in the Roman Theatre, a deep-sided bowl carved into the hill that is still used for cultural events today.

After the tour drive to the Greco-Roman city of Jerash (around one hour drive north of Amman) to have lunch at Green Valley - a delightful local restaurant.

The ancient city of Jerash is remarkable for its long chain of human occupation. Here at a well-watered site in the hills of Gilead, remains from Neolithic times have been found, as well as those from Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Umayyad and other times. Jerash's golden age however arrived with Roman rule. Jerash was a member of the Decapolis, a dynamic commercial league of ten Greco-Roman Cities.

When Emperor Hadrian visited Jerash in 129 AD, it was already thriving. To honour its guest, the city raised a triumphal arch. Today you can walk beneath the imposing south gate and then make your way up the 'Street of Columns' – the Roman road running 600 meters north from the Oval Plaza. As you step over the tracks of chariot wheels, still visible in the paving stones, you can imagine prosperous citizens window-shopping.

After the tour drive to the lowest point on earth "The Dead Sea". At 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is infinite in what it has to offer. Ever since the days of Herod the Great, people have flocked to the Dead Sea in search of its curative secrets. Due to high annual temperatures, low humidity and high atmospheric pressure, the air is extremely oxygenated, and the high content of oxygen and magnesium in the air make breathing a lot easier. With the highest content of minerals and salts in the world, the Dead Sea water possesses anti-inflammatory properties, and the dark mud found on the shores have been used for over 2,000 years for therapeutic purposes.

Day Three:

DEAD SEA

Today is a day of leisure, giving you the chance to explore and swim or use the spa.

Day Four:

DEAD SEA - KERAK - DANA - PETRA

After breakfast you will transfer to Petra, via Kerak and Dana.

Visit the Crusader's castle in Kerak. It was chosen by the Crusaders as the location for their stronghold due to its advantageous location. Situated mid way between Jerusalem and Shobak, another Crusader castle, Kerak is perched on a hilltop 1,000 metres above sea level and surrounded on three sides by a valley.

After your visit, transfer to Dana to have lunch and then to continue to a one hour tour visiting some spectacular viewpoints above Dana village. Explore the terraced gardens, meet some local farmers, visit a traditional bakery, a jam factory, and a soap and silver workshop.

Proceed south to Petra, where a pre check-in will be arranged at Petra Movenpick Resort.

Overnight:

Day Five:

PETRA

After breakfast, begin your full day tour of Petra. Start with a horse ride from the main gate of Petra to the entrance of the old city (about 800 metres). Then walk on foot along the Siq to discover the ancient city of Petra. The ancient city of Petra was built from 800 BC to 100 AD by Nabetean Arabs. In this era Petra was a fortress, carved out of craggy rocks in an area which was virtually inaccessible. In the first and second century, after the Romans took over, the city reached the peak of its fame. Petra covers an area of about 100 square km, where over 800 monuments can be found. When shipping slowly displaced caravan routes, the city's importance gradually dwindled. It fell into disuse and was lost to the world until 1812, when it was re-discovered by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. Today Petra is Jordan's number one tourist attraction, known as the "rose-red city half as old as time". The Khazneh (the Treasury) even starred in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Lunch today will be inside the ruins of Petra at the Basin Restaurant.

Later on, head back to your hotel in Petra with time to relax before tonight's dinner.

Drive to the old site of Beida, or Little Petra as it is known among the local people, for a private dinner. A path illuminated by small paper candles will lead you to an open area, surrounded by rocks; this special evening will be catered by Petra Movenpick Resort.

Overnight:

Movenpick Hotel & Resorts

Day Six:

PETRA - MADABA - MOUNT NEBO – MA’IN

After breakfast, check out from your hotel to transfer to Ma'in via Madaba and Mount Nebo for a visit before checking into your hotel.

Mount Nebo is the mountain where Moses was allowed to see the Holy Land but not allowed to enter it. Nowadays the mountain is a memorial site.  Here you will find the "Church of Moses", built by the first Christians.  Ever since the first days of Christianity this mountain has been a holy place and a destination for pilgrimage. Like Moses, you can have a great view over Jordan, the Dead Sea and Israel.  When the weather is clear, you should even be able to see Jerusalem, which is about 60 kilometres away.

Continue to Madaba (15 minutes drive from Mount Nebo). South of Amman, Madaba, the "City of Mosaics", stands perched on an archaeological site with more than 4,000 years of history buried beneath it. The quality and quantity of mosaic flooring has made Madaba one of the most prominent cities in the world for mosaics. St. George's Church houses the world famous mosaic floor depicting a large mosaic map of Palestine. Centrally located on this mosaic floor is a detailed map of Jerusalem as it was during the sixth century AD.  At the Church of the Apostles, at the southern entrance of the city, is a mosaic floor attributed to the craftsman Salamanios, depicting the sea, with the central figure of a woman encircled with a selection of creatures, vegetation and an inscription.

After lunch at a local restaurant in Madaba, continue to Ma'in to check in and overnight.

Overnight:

Evason Ma’in Hot Springsand Six Senses Spa

Day Seven:

Ma’in

Today is at your leisure.

Why not use the Spa which is located just a couple of minutes’ drive from the Evason Ma’In Hot Springs hotel within the same resort compound. You can choose to take a leisurely 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel or take a short drive using the complimentary electrical buggy or car from the hotel.

Along the way to the Six Senses Spa, you can see various local farms with herbs, vegetable and fruits in various stages of bloom. There are also various hot streams and waterfalls along the way.

The Six Senses Spa is a stand-alone villa compound that houses a reception area, hot waterfall lounge area, 2 levels of massage rooms and a spa facilities room. Walking into the reception area, there are shelves displaying Dead Sea spa products and an over-sized round sofa fronting the reception area.

The Six Senses Spa in Jordan is indeed unique. The Spa compound is built around its key attraction; a natural hot spring waterfall and a main hot spring water pool. There is even a very unusual cave sauna, heated by very hot spring water, right beside the waterfall! It’s natural, unique and amazing.

Just swimming in the heated pool and listening to the continuous waterfall is guaranteed to take away whatever urban stress and worries that you may be having!

Overnight:

Evason Ma’in Hot springs and Six Senses Spa

Day Eight:

DEPART AMMAN

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Amman airport for your return flight home.
